Padding on a 4 point roll bar--where should I put it?

    Hi guys,

I'm getting ready for my first HPDE of the season in a few weeks at Watkins Glen.

I have a newly installed Kirk Racing 4 point roll bar and seats.

My Google searching says to put the padding "anywhere my helmet could hit".

To my eyes if I'm properly restrained with my 6pt harness, my helmet shouldn't be able to hit the roll bar anywhere.

Where would you put the padding?

Also, I still have to put the instructors/passenger seat in, so take a look at that side too.

Thanks in advance for your help.

All along the area behind your head. Your arms can hit it too.

With only a roll bar in the car, you probably don't need any padding in my opinion. It might be a good idea for a +6' driver, but for most folks if your head reaches the rear bar you have bigger problems that padding won't help. Now if you had a cage you'd need padding on the side bars and perhaps the front down tubes.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

I just want to mention if you've already spent the money on a roll bar, buy the proper high density impact padding stuff and don't use those pool floaty things. You've gone this far already, don't cheap out!

Are you suggesting all across the "hoop" and the diagonal bar?
