    DSP e30 power gainers

I am building a DSP e30 currently. The car is very competitive locally but I feel like I need more power to have any chance at national level. So looking for ideas.
    Current car setup:
    Engine/Drive Train:
    -SPAL Electric Fan conversion
    -A/C Delete
-Magnaflow Custom exhaust with High Flow Cat
-Miller Motorsports MAF conversion Custom Heat Shield and K&N
    -Miller Chip
    -JB Aluminum 8lbs FlyWheel
    -CenterForce Stage 2 clutch
    -Z3 1.9 l Short Shifter
    -3.73 LSD

    Suspension/Wheels/Brakes:
    -Braided steel brake lines
    -HP brake pads
    - Custom Valved Koni Single adjustable with ground control coil overs
    - Ireland Engineering Aluminum rear shock mounts
-AKG Motorsports Poly DIff, rear subframe, trailing arm and offset control arm bushings.
-Ireland Engineering 22mm Front Sway Bar
    -Ground Control Camber Plates
    -17x9 Rota Grid Wheels
    -Hankook RS-3 tires 255/40/17

So far the things i can think off, is a set off headers, a adjustable cam gear to advance the timing a little.
19 lbs injectors and get he miller tune for them.
        Gasket match the intake manifold

Easy things I see that will make you a lot faster (and spend a lot of cash)

          -Hoosier A6s, 275/35/15 or 285/30/18

-Diff ratio might be better changed depending on tire, also build a diff with an OSGiken or similar unit

          -Lose the cat

          -Headers, likely custom needed

-ITBs might help, might not. Not enough data on an M20 to tell.

-Refresh the engine/top end? I know you can't modify it, but make sure it's in tip top shape.

My suggestions would be to switch to Team Dynamics 15x7 wheels to loose unsprung weight, get a set of Bimmerworld 22/19mm sways, rebuild the head using a new or blueprinted cam, and loose the catalytic converter replacing the exhaust with something along the lines os the Spec E30 exhaust. Then spend some time on a dyno to optimize the car's tune.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

I am running no rear bar. I used to run 15x8 with 225 hankook rs-3 and the 255 on 17x9 have proved to be a much faster combo.

Delete power steering? I know ur gunna want it with all that tire but in the end it will be more beneficial to not have it.

I ran the car with no power steering once and did notice a huge difference in power. also it is not a class legal change

The power steering pump doesn't draw all that much power off the engine. Losses in the 3-7hp range have been reported, but my experience is that peak loss in in the 3-4 hp range when the engine is at 6k. AutoX runs are short and tiring of the driver isn't going to be an issue, but quick changes of direction are the norm. I suspect that, all other things being equal, the ability to change direction more rapidly with power steering is more of an advantage than the power than can be gained by deleting power steering.

As to tires, a larger contact patch is going to yield an advantage. But adding unsprung weight is effectively the same thing as adding lost of weight to the car, especially in an AutoX environment. The effect varies according to who you talk to, but commonly held ratios are like 1:4. Meaning that every pound of unsprung weight is equivalent to 4 pounds of weight in the car. that has a big effect on acceleration and deceleration. I'd be looking for a 15x9 or 15x10 lightweight wheel.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Are different steering racks/ratios allowed in SP? If they are, that should make a huge difference, espicially in slaloms.

                          TIRES!

Hoosier A6s, or maybe the new Hankook r-comp. A local hotshoe with multiple national titles is liking the 'kook comps for D Stock.

FWIW, Alex S. was running 17s or bigger on his DSP e30. Another, somewhat less competitive DSP e30 was running 15s with the 275 Hoosiers. Take that as a data point ...

Shed as much weight as possible.

If you're still running a twin-tube exhaust, consider going single-tube with the lightest possible components.

Your seats are lighter than stock, but far from the lightest. It's a money thang, sure, but some Sparco Evos or something like that ...

Lightweight battery? I've got an Odyssey in my STX car.

Megasquirt and an aggressive, race-gas tune wouldn't hurt.

Nope rack swaps are not allowed. I am mainly trying to concentrate on power. My suspension is well dialed in currently and the weight i know exactly what i need to do to bring it down. But I am not sure on what to do as far as power goes.
