this is why i think the only kind of wheel-to-wheel racing i would ever partake in is lemons.

otherwise, auto-X, HPDE and time-speed-distance it is. i have horrible luck.

Just saw this...yup I ran 7th out of 14 after qualifying way back in 11th. Someone was DQ'd for being well underweight so I got 6th. Not too bad. I was right on the back of a fight for 4-5-6 though, so a little better in 9 and it would have all finished differently.

This is how close the fight for 4-5-6 was:

On Saturday one of my toe link adjusters backed itself out and the car was steering itself more with the rear wheels than the fronts. I was turning RIGHT to go around left for T1. SCARY! Finished 11th despite that. Pretty happy with my results for the weekend. Going faster, finishing better, making progress.

Really impressed that 111 built a new car from scratch basically and made it out to race and finish pretty damn well considering zero practice time! Hope Trapp gets his car back together. I think he's the fastest guy in SE30 right now, when he keeps it together he's really dangerous. Three offs in two races wasn't helping him though.

The guy who hit me came up and shook my hand and offered to wrench. Nice of him. I think he was feeling really awkward about the whole situation, which is understandable.

    Beauty shot in the Omega.

Thanks to Castro Motorsports and Midnight Oil particularly for getting the car back together!

Well just kinda of wanted to update this thread.

Looks like priapism was back out on track for this last NASA event at Willow Springs. The car was less then pretty but managed to run midpack. Congrats on getting it done and back out there.

Not sure I caught your name, is it Sean? Either way good to see you got it back out there and avoided the Miata. Although #24 was not so lucky.

Last lap of the last race for Sunday the miatas where at it again, almost everyone going into the dirt on Turn 9, I knew it was going to happen and sure as shit it did. Miata lost it and came back across track and took out #24.

Anyways glad to see priapism out there, sorry if I don't know your name yet.

Here is a picture of the car, not sure there is one matching body panel, but hey, back in the race and that it what matters.

Here is a far away shot of the accident in turn 9, the white Miata is just outside the pit wall and Shawns 'Bad Kitty' #24 is on the inside of the wall with a smashed front right wheel/fender/frame rail.

Oh ya and the same weekend at BW that Aron got smashed in the enduro, E30 #111 got wrecked in a solo crash in practice Friday. We had to strip the entire car and rebuild another car, got it back together in great fashion for the Willow Springs event. #111 got 6th place on Sunday.

    Before:

    After:

Look forward to seeing the Spec E30 crew out at Buttonwillow June 23/24. Should be a smash up derby with the California Crown, NorCal SE30 vrs SoCal SE30. Toss in some Miatas in the mix and it should be a sheetmetal biscuit of a good time.

All kidding aside I hope to see all the E30 guys make it through clean with no incidents.

Take Care and Congrats to the entire SoCal Spec E30 Race Group!

    Robert

im pretty sure braking or lifting is not something miatas do.

The closest call I had was at Laguna Seca last year when a Huffaker Genie Sports racer cut me off in turn 4. I had the line, he was ahead and should have held is line. Oh well, that's racing. In this case, no harm no foul.

In that video, at the 6 minute mark the pileup happens at turn 5 at Thunderhill race way. I've nearly ended up in the same sort of mess racing Lemons there. I went for the dirt and avoided contact. Heck, 24 hrs of Lemons has less contact than your average SM race and there are often 180 cars on track

Buttonwillow is a great track I did VARA University there. I'd love to race there again. Lots of features at that track.

Bummer on the car, hopefully the guy will get what he deserves for lousy driving.

Electric blue! The guy found the thread and sent me a note. It's all good. Just had to vent a little after I got the estimate. Car is a lot worse than it looks. Lots of stuff was tweaked.
