    One thing to keep in mind is if you run SCCA, there has been discussion concerning full face hemets and air-bag equipped cars. They haven't banned them yet but it looks like it could be possible in the future.

        pasha whats wrong with a motorcycle helmet? i've always used one for track & auto x. snell approved full face.

            Motorocycle and car helmets are designed differently. Bike helmets are made to withstand one big smack, car helmets are made to take a few lighter bumps without issues. From what I've seen motorcycle helmets can become unsafe if they've ever taken any type of hit at all, such as banging a roll cage, etc.

                motorcycle helmets are single impact helmets, yes. I always keep mine in good shape, don't drop it or anything like that. it sits in the bag on the shelf.

                so I figured why wouldn't something made to take the impact of falling straight onto your head be safe to use in a cage


                I'll look into a normal helmet though, as I plan to do a lot of track events this year
