    racing harness recommendations?

i'm looking for a 4 point harness to put in my e46 for weekend use and then i want to take it out again.
will only be using it for autocross or track days, not really wanting it for daily use at all.
i'm looking for something cheap that is safe (obviously) and easy to install, uninstall.
must be compatible with stock e46 seats.

    thanks

What about a schroth ralley 3 or 4 set up? No need to remove them amd you could still use your stock belts.

Just check to make sure they are sanctioned by whom ever you are racing with.

was hoping for something cheaper, but those might be an option.
i'd want to remove them more than likely. i think they look dumb. haha

the problem with running harness not designed to bolt into the stock locations like the schroth are they need a cage or at least a seat belt harness bar to work work correctly.

if you just bolt your harness to the floor or the rear mounts, you can have issues with spinal compression in the event of an accident.

i run the rallye 4 belts in my DD.

with these you can go back to the std 3 point belt at will.

i had these laying around from my ITB Golf as they were out of date. the retractors were going bad in my stock belts, so i just swapped them.

        they are also street legal

There's a reason that 5th point is there...
...and required by any real racing sanctioning body.

if you can't go 5, stay 3 and do something cheap like the CG lock or the Porsche tug...

4- points aren't racing harnesses, and scare me.

Schroth makes DOT 4 points, personally thats what I would get for your situation.

for autox i think a 4 point is fine. for anything more than that and actually risking hitting something... Don't do it if you like being able to use your legs.

a cheap CG lock alternative is to move your seat all the way back, tug on the belt to have it lock, then move your seat to your driving position. Doesn't work for tall people, though. The alternative is to lock the belt and then unbuckle, give it a twist 360 degrees and then buckle up again, and it will be a bit tighter.
