    best brake pad for auto-x/street

Stock pads suck, no initial bite. I want a pad that can be used on the street but has great initial cold bite. I often hear axxis ultimates fit this bill. If so wheres the best place to buys these?

As time went on, the factory developed the car each year, making it faster, more comfortable, and capable of handling at higher speeds.

Metal masters and Ultimates need to be warmed a bit for initial bite. Just about any performance shop will have both.

mintex redbox from bimmerworld. (IE sells them too, but buy from James Clay, everything: online store, customer service, shipping, etc is better from BW)

which is a bad thing in auto-x because you start out cold! Stock pagid pads are great for auto-x other than the fact that they dust alot. If you really want to go aftermarket try Hawk HPS.

red box is a good street pad but i wouldnt consider it an enthusiast pad at all. axxis ultimates are the ticket imo, bma sells them under the pbr ceramic name (mother company). they're cheap and plentiful.

wow a different answer from almost every poster, good justification for this post. so axxis ultimates are actually pbr ceramics?

pbr is the big company, based in australia. axxis is the name they are marketed under in the united states. bma carries them, called pbr ceramics, 37 bucks for the front. just picked up a set myself last week.

They work excellent. The only problem I have is that they dust like crazy.

Sorry, I didn't fully explain myself.
I've had both Metal masters and Ultimates and they take 2-3 stops on the street before they start grabbing good. That is if you start your car in the morning (fully cold).
They warm up pretty quick though. So either would be good for autocrossing.

I'm happy with my HPS's. They bite well cold, don't dust much at all, and I haven't faded them yet (on the street)

                        Keep it slideways!!

pads that have organic compounds such as pagid work will usually work the best when cold. Other pads mentioned that are semi or metalic pads need to be warmed up before they have good "bite". I have found that the pagid pads are the "all around" best for street/track pads. They are quiet and dusty but always do a good job.
