for those of you who don't visit the project forum, and since we don't post much in here....thought you might be interested.
our local team is the (not terribly creatively named) Dirty e-Thirties and we have about a dozen drivers in 6 or 7 e30s (and an e28), and over the last year we've made a lot of contacts with other e30 rallycrossers across the country and also talk often with the Rally-Gruppe 318is Cup series in Germany (and have traded some SCCA/Team decals with them for one of their full-car vinyl sets :) ) - they do single-stage full rally rather than rally cross. It's a spec series....so basically its SpecE30 but off-road :)
Anyhow, for those of you who autocross or do track days or whatever, definitely try to check out a rallycross if you can. It's pretty cheap, can be done well in a stock e30 (though most of us run in the Modified RWD class). And....it's tons of fun, and much more seat time than autocross (our typical events are 10-15 90+ second runs!) Our main competition locally is RX-7s and MR2s, and nationally the Miatas are the car to beat (shocker) in this class.
Our build threads:
Mine ('85 318i w/M42 swap):

Spencer's (with Stuart) ('91 318is):

Pat/Jason's (old ETA getting a 325i swap)
with Nick's e28

Scott and his crew's ETA

(and the other local guys' cars are in those threads too)
And some others that we follow/talk to/get inspiration from:

And the RG318is page:
Norbert Schneider's 318is

And our "team" facebook page, which now has e30 rally/rallycrossers from across the country on it:
