thats a wide open question BUT...... for the street obviously it's
not needed , can lead to injuries and impedes on interior space;......., on the track?....well you have your harness set up and roll over protection..........what else do you need to know?

Seems like something mighty hard right next to your head, and without a brain-bucket its goin to hurt.

So unless you're going to wear a helmet on the street, dont do it for a non track dedicated car.

get a 4-point roll-bar, that way you're not in as much danger driving without a helmet as a 6-point roll cage.

and get one with a bolt-in cross-section if you make use of your backseat a lot.

Been there done that; both your statements are false. Impact on a crash does a serious thing to your body. Say good bye to back seat access and NEVER let anyone sit there.

Mike K & bmws50 - Roll cage and Roll bars are not safe to use without a helmet period. BTDT. I'd advise to spend your money elsewhere or justify your real need for it first.

Edit: You all can do as you wish, just bear in mind that the consequences can be fatal; we don't have control over accidents.If you do go ahead with it, get the most professional grade of padding possible, don't skimp on it and remember it's not made to work alone, it works better with an approved helmet.

Not to throw a wrench into this, but I have lots of customers that have roll bars in their Street drivers that are safe. Make sure the bar fits well and is behind the seat and head rest, not to the side. There are some bars that are to close, especially a Roll cage. Use the FIA roll bar padding. You will lose the back seat for everything except may be for luggage or so. If you have a family I would definitley "NOT DO IT", but if you are single, why not! There is even instances where a roll bar has saved lives when properly installed. Either way, be safe and think about it before you make your decision. I do not know about some of you, but my roof and b-pillar (E30) is made of steel and is only a few of inches from my head.

I would think you being in the NASCAR capital of the World, you should be able to find one of the thousands of Fab shops to whip you one up. I know the shops are plentiful and competitive in pricing. If you want a kit bar, contact Charles at www.safedrives.com . He can find you a kit and padding.
