    good auto-x brake discs

    yo guys, looking for a good rotor to replace my beat to hell discs. I'm pretty close to just going with oe replacements(vented in the front, solid in the back) but came across these:


    Which got me wondering do any of you guys that auto-x notice that much of a difference in running stock replacement rotor opposed to dimpled and slotted?

    I know the big difference is in the type of pad used but that's already been covered pretty extensively in other threads.

    Any input is helpful.

    stock.

    you don't need slotted/drilled/whatever rotors for autox. basically the only time you use your brakes in autox is for corner entry (to load up the suspension or shift weight) and stopping at the end.

      You don't need dimpled/slotted rotors ANYWHERE. We can use as much thermal mass as we can get.

        exactly the kind of feedback I was looking for! Very helpful thanks!

        Looking to actually get the vert out to some auto-x events this summer, just wanted to take care of some general mant. items that I know will see a lot of abuse around the cones.

        Also need to decide if I can live with myself taking an automatic to an auto-x event lol. I've done a five speed swap before but that was in college over spring break when I had a whole week to tear into the thing, little worried it would turn into a project where the car would just be up in the air for like a month and wouldn't get to really enjoy it during the summer months.

          it'll be fine. leave it in 1st gear, unless it's an open course where speeds are over 50mph then put it in 2nd.

            This. Put Brembo blanks and the pads of your choice on all four corners and call it done.

              actually ended up getting some OP rotors, bosch rear pads, and some akebono euro ceramics for the front.

              Everything from Blunt except the front pads because I had them from a previous e30 with like 1,000 miles on them.

              I figured I can upgrade to some racy pads in the future if I want. Went with the OP rotors b/c Blunt let me know that Spec guys use them a lot so I figured good enough for spec good enough for me lol.

              Also going to flush the system and throw in some fluid with a high boiling point :up:
