M42 Inverted Header Turbo At Watkins Glen PCA Event

YouTube video of the car running at Watkins Glen in the Zone 1 PCA 48 hours June 7-8.

Mitch will be running in the Reisentoter Region PCA event on July 25-27. Once again at Watkins.

The car now has a 6 point Safety Devices cage, Momo racing seats and harnesses. We will post a link if we get more video.

Great driving! More info on your build?

Edit: I saw your initial post back in 2010.

I must say, passing a $100k+ Porsche must be quite satisfying.

I agree with the comments above, passing expensive newer cars is always fun

            from his photobucket account

            pretty interesting
that the m42 manifold can be flipped upside down and still fit.

That's a pretty fascinating engine bay, mostly because most turbo stuff is well outside my range of knowledge. Looks really well done though. By the way, one of our drivers' favorite pastimes is beating up on Porsches so we totally understand ;)

That's a pretty creative setup right there.

He has driven in two more DE's at Watkins since then and we are preparing the car for the Metro NY PCA event on Aug 17-18. Will anyone else be attending the event? When things slow down we will post more pics and provide info about all improvements since we built it in 2010.

                      Thanks for the nice comments.

It's late at night here (actually early morning) and I'm probably missing something, but...
Why does the exhaust pipe to the turbo go through the big aluminium box looking suspiciously like a radiator?

You can see the turbo just below the rad.

Looks like a brace to hold the assembly. Turbo bolts thru the brace to the exhaust pipe. Otherwise the pipe would be supporting the entire weight of the turbo, etc. Also, that flex pipe indicates the turbo is solid mounted to the car via a brace.
