I'm assuming that these will require much lower pressure than regular street tires. I settled on about 43psi up front and 39 in the rear for my azenis (195/60-14). what should I start with for the hoosiers? they are 225/50-14 (actual tread width is ~250mm!).

hoosier tire pressures?

Hey Chris, I have been reading about the pressures and it seems the 04's like a higher pressure as the sidewalls aren't stiff enough. I haven't gotten nearly enough runs in them though to dial them in, but 36/32 worked decent for me. I am sure yours is going to be different with the ix, did they fit without spacers?

don't know yet, will have them mounted later this week. I think they should clear, as ix wheels are typically a much higher offset than the 14x6.5 weaves, but we'll see. I just rolled my rear fenders with a sledgehammer (had to cut away part of the flares to do it), so I have plenty of space in the rear. I'm also thinking my weight distribution is similar to yours since you have a slightly heavier motor, I'll try your setup and go from there.

had the tires mounted today, they clear the struts just fine, no spacers needed! woohoo! it's pretty close at 1/4" or so, but they fit. they will rub my fender liners for sure at full lock, and I might have to roll the rears a bit more (I need to anyway). but for you ix guys looking to run some really wide rubber, 225 hoosiers (which are actually as wide as a 245) fit the ix just fine on 14" basketweaves. :D

Can I get a rear shot of your car? Thanks!Michael Spiegle

here's my car with the hoosiers mounted on one side, it's very close but they fit nicely:
you can't see it very well, but I had to cut part of the rear flares away and I rolled the rear lips with a sledgehammer, it's *barely* enough for the tires to clear under full suspension compression. honestly I can't beleive how well they fit, it's almost as if the 14" weaves, hoosiers and the ix were meant to be. the offset is just about perfect, and I needed to do the fender clearancing in the back anyway because my euro weaves rubbed pretty badly with the BFGs mounted.
I also put boards under the tires because I didn't want gravel to stick into them, but it ended up not mattering because the autox right after this was very gravely - I actually melted some rocks into the r/f tire. oh well, I guess that's what they are for :D
