SOunds like it'd be a fun car, I'd definitely make it more of a all around street car than a dedicated Autocrosser though.
Yes, 220-230 whp is maxed out the t25 turbo on 15psi. The turbo upgrade will happen next summer and then it will be scary fast. 370whp in a 2000lb car. Of course i need to beef up the driveshaft/rearend before i do that.

The car will be a weekend/auto-x/ occasional drag car. I have a family car, this will be for fun.

What do you experts say about a bimmerworld Coilover set up with Koni SA's ???

---> Go to suspension ---> springs and coilovers ---> Coilover Converison kit. 399-499

        Difference in 84-87 or 88-91??????

        Which has its advantages
the 83-85 318i is lighter but the 91 318is comes with rear discs and the battery already in the trunk. I would go with the '85, with a motor swap those things are crazy. and they are a lot cheaper (<1000 vs 3000) make sure to tuck the bumpers though

It is tearing at my heart. I know the 85 is cheaper, but the plastic bumpers on the 88-91 cars look SOOOO much better even with the diving boards tucked.

I mean I know it is mainly a auto-x car, but I still want it to look decent

yes, plastic bumpers look 100x better, as does shadowline trim.

plastic bumpered 318 (if your gonna do a engine swap) or 325 "i" "is" would be your optimal choices..

I couldn't do a 318 though, just not enough power stock.
            90is, longtube headers/straight pipe/mark d 18# 93 0ctane chip/18# injectors/vogtland springs/bilst. sports

              To be honest,

A plastic bumpered 318 is absolutly IDEAL for my project. Running or not.

That is what I am currently looking for but a 325w/ plastic bumpers will also work

You're building a prepared class car, riight? Snag an 84-85 318 shell, swap over to the bigger rear end/discs, and just pull the bumpers off.

Swing wild, brake later, don't apologize.

                  But that will look bad

Another thing, I am building the car to my liking. I am not building it to be "competitive" in a certain class. I will build it and they can class me as they like. This is not a dedicated auto-x car. It is a fun car for me

It's a prepared class car, it's supposed to look bad.

Not if I have my way. I dont care if i am 3 seconds slower than the rest of my class. I could honestly care less.
