Quick follow up on this, 8610 1437 inserts have a much shorter travel range than the 8641 1198 VW inserts even thought the shock body is dimensionally the same. My rebuilt shocks are on and after a test drive, I have discovered after a bad bump, they try to hyper extend. So now I have to lengthen my housings and install a spacer in the base of my housing. This is due to the height I have the car set at and the way my housings were previously shortened. Cant win em all the first time.

How much did you shorten your housings? I'll be installing 8610-1437 RACE after the car is drivable again, and I'm probably just taking 1" out so I can keep my 5" springs/maintain tire clearance.

Couldn't you just have the VW inserts revalved for your springs?
