The speedcat is too thin for effective heel-toeing in my experience. The adidas Tuscany (with the outline of Suzuka inside; they're not called adidas goodyear) is a little wider and longer which makes it easier.

The best driving shoes tend to be shoes that are uncomfortable to walk in as a rule of thumb. In a driving shoe you want as little between your foot and the pedal as possible. Any shoe with any sort of "give" in the sole is just a barrier between you getting a really good feel of the pedal. Same analogy to taking out all of the soft rubber in your suspension to give you better feedback from your car's suspension.

Once you do go to an all-out driving shoe for track events, you'll wonder how you ever drove without them. It makes any sort of regular tennis shoe feel like you have pillows on your feet.

When racing my E30 I use a Simpson mid ankle nomex shoe that is all velcro to tighten the shoe, rather than laces. This makes it easy to crank down tight the area around your toes for a nice tight fit when driving. With laces it is hard to get the laces down at your toes really tight. Well, you can do it, but it takes too long IMO when you do it 5 times in a day. Velcro is quicker.

Because good driving shoes are so thin, they will not last long if you wear them all day between your driving sessions. After each run, take them off. Then put them back on right before you go out again. They will last a lot longer.

went to the outlets over the weekend, and hit up the adidas and puma stores. Found one style of goodyear adidas, adi racer low I think, but alas no sizes approaching mine. Went to puma, and got some speedcats (fyi - not flame resistant, says so inside the tag). Whatever, they're kinda silly if you ask me and offer zero support for walking around, plus they aren't very accomadating of wide feet, but they were on sale and I think I paid less than 40$. Plus I feel trendy.
