    2 Piece Rotor Question

I recently installed a UUC BBK with it's 2 pc (rotor & hat) arrangement. The speed shop that does most of the work that I can't recommends that the hardware used to fasten the rotors to the hats should be replaced when you replace rotors rings, every time. Additionally, the shop used red loctite on the fasteners. I bought the UUC BBK used, so it did not come with instructions...perhaps the answer is spelled out on those.

I'd like to know opinions here on the board...reuse hardware or new? Loctite?

I can't help with the UUC kit specifically but my wilwood bbk suggests new hardware every time.

I was stretching that out to every other time since I would burn through a set of rotors every half season roughly.

Will it hurt to replace the fasteners? No. Is it necessary every time, well, I don't. Do use red loctite though. Make sure the threads are clean before you apply. This applies to new hardware as well, you need to degrease them for the loctite to work properly.

The operating environment is too hot for loctite to be effective IMO. I use mil-spec single-use distorted thread lock nuts and aircraft grade Jet Bolts.
Bolts don't ever need replacing. Fresh nuts everytime. The bolts are probably $200 for 2 rotors but the safety and lack of needing replacement pays for itself.
