I'm looking forward to these coming out. I loved my RS2s, and RS3s. I cant wait to see how the RS4s are. I've been driving around on shitball 400 treadwear tires lately in the rain and I've come to the conclusion that my RS3s were still better tires when they were corded than these 400 treadwear things in the rain. I think a set of these for the Datsun and the M3 are a must have.

Any benefit to running 245/40's vs 225/45's on a 15x8?

You might feel quicker turn in response with the smaller wallz

I'm pretty psyched that they've finally made a new R-S series tire!

I wonder how those will be in the wet, given that there doesn't seem to be much void space on the outer third of the tire. I mean not that RE-71s are great for void space, but they're actually pretty decent at clearing water.

If the RS3 was any indication, fantastic. My RS3s were 100 times better in the rain than my current "all weather" tires are anywhere.

10" rims should be faster for the 245's but here's a good thread to read through from some people who know a lot more than me about tires and rim sizes:

Wheels and Tires - RS4 feb/march 2014 - source. tire rack. 225/45/15 off website. no other info available.

I run R-S3s on my Cayman S and LOVE them. Only negative is that they ride super rough before they warm up but that's not a big deal. Wonder if the R-S4 will outperform the RE-71R?

Yeah I think that's the question on everyone's minds. I think the RE-71R will be really hard to beat grip-wise. The RE-71R falls off quicker and wear faster than other 200TW tires except maybe Rival S tires, but when you have grip, they are awesome.

That's the reason I haven't gone with RE-71Rs. Unless you are a hardcore autocrosser running street class I think there are more well rounded tires. I like that I can drive my RS-3s in the rain, street driving, autocross and track and it handles it all fairly well and does pretty decent with wear.
