    Helmet recommendation

I need to purchase a helmet for this upcoming season.

I have a small head (that sounds bad). Anyway, I need the smallest size I think.

I want an open face. I'll be doing auto-x and maybe 1 or 2 track days if I'm lucky and money falls on my lap or something.

Oh yeah, it has to be CHEAP. Not something of shitty quality, but under $100 if possible.

    Any recommendations?

I got my open face Gforce helmet for like $60 on gforceoutlet.com

They occasionally have killer deals. It is SA2005 rated too, so it wont have to be replaced for a looong time.

M2000 or M2005 motorcycle helmets can be picked up for cheap but most organizations wont let you use them on the track, autox only.

I would definitely try a bunch on before you buy. I tried about 5 different helmets before I found one that fit right, which happened to be the GForce Pro Force 1 full-face.

That doesn't sound as bad as me, having a huge head. It's pretty damn huge if you see me in person. Trust me, its huge, odd shaped. :(

Yes definately go try a lot. When I go offroading, I spend more time finding the right helmet than I do riding. But then again, I don't get to ride much since I eat shit right away....

Where exactly do you go to try on helmets? I don't know of any places local that sell them. There's a lot of bike shops, but no automotive/performance shops near me.

ah.. i work at an offroading wholesaler.. so we have a lot of helmets to try..
but i think i would definately be screwed if i were to look for an automotive shop..

If you plan on tracking, get the closed face helmet. Open face helmets are scorned in the track community.

Really? I wasn't aware of that.

OK, any reasonably priced full face helmets? I'll probably end up going over $100 now. I want something decent, I'll spend an extra $50 or so if I can get a much better quality helmet, but I really can't spend like $300 on one.

Anybody have any links to online sites with decent deals? I went through this last season wearing a medium size that flopped around on my head, which didn't bother me much, so if it doesn't fit perfect I really odn't care. It's better then the medium helmet which I no longer have access to.

Pocono and Apex Performance would cost me more to drive there then it would be to buy 3 helmets and hope one fits.

Yes I have researched, there's only so much that reading can do though. I am looking for people with experience with cheaper helmets. This way I can get my approximate helmet size and then order one online somewhere.

Ive been where u r.........dont approximate. Northstar motorsports, Apex, racer wholesale......will allow some "home try ons" kinda. Ask for Shawnie at Racer Whole.... or Linda @ Apex........tell them you want to buy 2 ..or 3 but will only keep one.........they understand. If any want to charge service fee to return then walk......one for sure will allow a full return on helmets just "tried on"....you pay shipping back of course.........this should serve you well........hopefully you can handle a credit card sale of 2 or 3 lids and get the returns back timely..........its a great way to shop. GF and pyrotech and bieffe are priced low.......under 100?........that can be hard.
