Tirerack has both the kumo ecsta V710 thread wear 30, and VictoRacer V700 thread wear 50 on sale. Witch one would be a better autox tire?

Friend of mine is leading SM locally and in SF region ran both, liked the V710 better than the v700. Currently is running the BGF dot r tires on his car. I don't think you can go wrong with either one though..Mtech1 v8 build thread - https://www.r3vlimited.com/board/sho...d.php?t=413205

Holy crap, tirerack has 205/55/14 VictoRacer V700 for $80 each. I know what I'm ordering tonight! I don't care if they are a little slower, they are half the price. Avon's are still $109 each, I wonder how long that will last? Are these tires being discontinued in that size or something? It says "Closeout".

I've run all 3. The V710 is the lastest and greatest in compounds. They wear VERY well much better then Hoosier A6s. I got 150 runs out of hte last set (285/35/18s) of course that is a lot of tire for not much car so that helps.
The V700s and V700 Victoracers are both very good tires, but far less grip then a V710. Just a bit better then a set of RT615s streets IMHO. The wear on them is very low for an r-compound. You can drive them to and from events without much worry about damage on the streets (tho don't try that in rain unless its full tread).
The fact that you have to ask would lead me to believe if you must get an r-compound tire just get the Victoracers. They will last you longer while you learn. I don't think anyone should move to r-compounds until they have maxed themselves out on street rubber. R-compounds tend to soak up mistakes and don't let you improve as a driver.
Oh and the tread rating is kinda worthless at that low level. I think A6s are 40, but anyone will tell you that they will be worn out way before a V710 on the same car.SM 19 - Serial Destroyer of Cars

My set of V700's just arrived. I have state championships this weekend for autox, but will probably use V710's. I'll try the V700's next weekend during a Time Trials track day and report back with how they do. I cheaped out and didn't get them shaved. The 25% price increase didn't seem to be worth the possible longer tread wear, when the only reason I bought them was to last me the rest of this year anyway.
