Shameless track day video - Buttonwillow Raceway

Here's a short Youtube video of me driving an E30 at Buttonwillow (Southern California) last month. I was having fun driving on fresh unshaved RA1s.

Yes, I won't quit my day job!

To MR 325: This was the car that was at TNG Auto a couple of months ago.

Nice vid, Mike. It seemed like your car got pretty light going over Magic Mountain...

Very nice video, thanks. From the tyre noise, it sounds like the car has awesome grip. Must be a real pleasure to drive.

Looks like fun, can't wait to run Buttonwillow that direction. I have only run it CCW...Don't turn so much through the esses...I would imagine that you could be flat through the esses, I know I was going the other direction. It was good to meet you at Laguna, to bad you didn't bring the e30...

IIRC, you carry much more speed through the esses going CCW cause they are at the end of a straight. I don't know if your CW session used Star Mazda or the sweeper, but I doubt you were entering the esses as fast. I could prolly wrong, I'm a n00b :D

I agree. I used to dislike going CW but now I like both directions. Buttonwillow is such a great track. See you out there Mark!

That NSX was stupid fast and had a very good driver! He was blowing by everyone that day. Pretty cool car.

Hi Brendan. You are right, I was turning way too much there. There are some shallow curbs that I should have just drove over. I don't know about going flat-out, though. Maybe with my new Nitto NT01s!?

I had a good time at Laguna Seca and it was great to meet you and the rest of the NorCal Spec E30 guys. After that I very seriously thought about converting my car over to Spec E30 specs. But that requires replacing all of the M3 stuff (suspension, rear diff, steering rack, brakes, 5-lug hubs, wheels) with 325i/is stuff. Doable but is it worth the trouble? Maybe?

                            That's true.

CCW through the esses is fast.

Yes, of course it is worth the trouble...spec e30 is where it is at. I think you may have another Socal car, saw someone on bimmerforums is building one...
