    AutoX and PS

I was curious what class would my car be in with just suspension work and PS and AC removed.
SO how much will it hurt me by not having the ac or ps on the car. What class will this knock me into.

autox is going to SUCK with no PS. I feel bad for you if those are your only mods - but I don't know exactly what class that puts you. possibly SM.

Well considering he asked how much it would hurt him I'm pretty sure that was a valid response.

Also Nate runs in STU with the SCCA.

Well i am more worried that it will not me into a different class for removing both of them.

SM or EM due to the power steering removal

SP if you had only removed the AC (Comfort & Convenience allowance)

Well i guess I will have to keep both if I want to have any chance of being competitive until i get more into hpde and then I will dump this stuff.
So what si the best class to run a car with no engine mods but fully built suspension. I was hearing that ST class would be my best bet.

Depends. If you were to have a well built/prepped car DSP is even a good fit. You aren't going to gain much in the way of HP in ANY class in an E30. Or at least any class below SM.

Tires are BY far more important than anything else. Then shocks, then suspension....Oh yeah and Quality seat time.

I autocross in DSP without AC or PS. I don't run nationals, so I don't care exactly how class legal the car is(i'm still the slowest regionally), but the way I read the rules is that you can disconnect either or both and stay in pretty much any class. Removing the system's something else and will probably bump you to SP or SM+. I love not having PS on the car though, it has so much feel!

I'm not sure how the rules would interpret this, but I agree with you in that you should be able to disconnect it but leave all comonents there-the whole comfort/convenience thing applies I think.

Well I did some searching and this is what I found. AC Is pretty clear but P/S isn't.

You can check it out yourself for further clarification.

                            AIR CONDITIONING

Stock class cars with optional air conditioning are allowed to
compete without the belt in place. Additionally, the entire air
conditioning system may be removed, but any related components
(springs, radiator, etc.) that are part of an air conditioning package
must be returned to standard parts for the standard model (non-air
conditioned). Removal of part of the air conditioning system is
allowed only if no other components for the car differ between
model’s equipped with and without air conditioning, i.e., springs,
                            radiator, etc.

Air conditioning may be added to any car as a “comfort and
convenience” item, provided it serves no other purpose and other
components are not added or deleted unless otherwise authorized
                            by the current Solo Rules.

If a factory option, may be removed and backdated as an assembly
or separate components of the system may be removed (i.e.,
                            individual under-hood components only).
                            STREET MODIFIED

                            E. Suspension components are unrestricted as long as they use the
original attachment points. For the purposes of this rule,
“suspension” is defined as any item that is designed to move
when a wheel is deflected vertically. This includes shocks and
struts, control arms, steering knuckles, uprights, etc., but not tie
rods, steering racks, and subframes. In addition, shock absorber/
strut upper mounts are to be considered suspension
                            components.
Personally, I removed my AC compressor and the PS belt is off only because my rack leaks heavily.

                            I run in STX.

There is 15lbs or more in all other AC components, aside from just the compresser....just an FYI
