    It goes

    original steering rod
    pipe welded to original rod
    other end of pipe opened up so that the axle can penetrate the pipe( we used a drill, the installer of the pics used a lathe ).
    they are then welded together.

    same goes on with the other same side.

      yes, but the active one that the new bimmers use are more for low speed parking lot steering once you start moving it changes back to a normal ratio
