    Gauge pod options...

    Hey guys,

Ive got some old VDO gauges Im putting in the car, and I actually want to see them without looking too far out of the way.

I like the BMP vent mount but at $85 itss really not worth it to me.

I can always get a three gauge pod and bolt it to the dash like alot tof the old 2002's but I'm just wondering if there are any other solutions out there vent mount or higher up that are cheap and visually appealing.

I thought about getting a couple digital gauges in the check panel but that still involves monitoring them by looking away.

    Thanks in advance! -Dylan

I have a spare vent mount that I made I could probably let go for not too much. It only holds 2 gauges but it leaves one vent open and usable.

Thanks, but Im really looking for something to hold all three in the same spot. How hard is it to make a vent pod. I've done some metal fab work but my fiberglass skill is sub-par. If I could just get a flat pane to sit in the vent opening it would work well.

I have one of the dash top, 3-guage pieces and really like it. Doesn't impair vision like the A-pillar version, and is more in the line of sight than the vent version. I can grab a photo if it would help.

how's the A-pillar vision impairment? When I used to drive Crown Point at night, the A-pillar was always getting in the way

coupeowner, a pic would be great...

I've had them mounted in a couple ways in my and my friend's 2002, one was like this

I really am only considering the center mount option, so it's either going to be in the vent,

Or on top of the dash in the 2002 style.

We are going to keep a radio in the car because it willl drive to the track, so I cant just grab some graphite/carbon fiber sheet and mount them in the center dash. They used to make some nice plastic, vinyl pieces that looked like a dash add-on (Nice line off the gauge cluster bulge) but I can't find any now.

Here's a picture of one that I found online...its the third picture on the bottom...that is exactly what I would want...

Let me know if you know anything about a better option. Thanks! -Dylan

That gauge extension piece was made by AC Schnitzer and it about impossible to find. I know a guy who has one, and it is awesome, but it is the only one I've ever seen.

You could build a custom gauge pod where your ash tray is.
