Any reason to NOT remove door panels/cards for track car?

This also depends on if you are competing in a specific class.. some regulations don't let you strip out the interior completely. If you're only doing HPDEs it won't matter though.

how much weight are you really going to save with taking 4 pieces of cardboard out of your car. On my turbo car i took them out at first, then put them back in just because of the extra noise without them.

I was gonna make some money selling them, but not enough to justify selling them and then having to fab some sort of aluminum cover or panel. Looks like I might just keep them...at least the fronts. There is no glass in the back (coupe) so I guess I can sell the rears.

It's a track car so I'm not worried about noise. But I don't want to screw myself down the road if I plan on racing. IIRC, the panels with pulls weigh a decent amount. In racing where you want to strip all weight possible, it seems like a no brainer.

depends which ruleset. spec e30 rules say the following:

9.3.13.23. Door panels may be replaced with 0.060-inch aluminum or comparable material,
securely attached to the door.

To me it wasn't about weight, I wanted to get some extra room for the cage. Since I needed to still have working windows that meant I couldn't do Nascar style door bars so pulling off the door cards gave me a little extra room to move the X-bars as far away from my body as possible.

Noise also wasn't a concern being that the rest of the car is gutted.
