    englishtown raceway park

I dont plan on autocrossing my car, because honestly i really dont wanna fuck up my newly painted front end by hitting a cone. I paid too much and put too much work into it to screw it up. I do however plan on attending a track by me that will be opening up shortly in englishtown NJ(about 30 mins from my house). Anyways.... I plan on going next summer, but does anyone know if i would need to have roll bar because of the convetable? Also anyone from the area interested in tracking there too?

Heres a pic of the track

So let me get this straight.

You don't want to fuck up the FRONT of your newly repainted car by hitting a cone in an autocross...

But your're willing to risk wrecking and completely fucking up not only your paint but your car by driving on a racetrack?

well i dont plan on racing on the track, just like open track days where i can push my car to the limits a bit and not have to worry about someone trying to get by me to be in 1st lol. I dont plan to race it.

yea i know what i wrote before does sound kinda stupid now that i think about it.

Ha ha ha, it's all good. You risk damage to your car at any kind of motorsport event, so just be careful.

If you go off course (and you probably will) its going to do more damage to your car than a cone will.

I think that is the new E30 definition of ricer right there... I won't autocross because I suck at driving and the cones will mess up my paint.

Let's drive fast and have fun.

yea, go fuck yourself. I put over 1grand so far into the bumpers and new paint and i put alot of time into it too. I dont want to take the chance of running shit over like a fucking cone, thank you very much. When will you stop being a fucking dick. Keep your opinions to yourself from now on.
My car isnt a beater and im not about to put it in conditions where it will posibly get the shit beat out of it. So maybe the track isnt something for my cab. Ill just go and watch ;)

Over here in NZ we don't have autocrosses so open days at the track are we have really (except hillclimbs, gravel sprints etc..)

As with all track type events (even autocross) it is about finding the limits of your vehicle (or you own limits) and working with in them.

If you just take it easy you won't have any probs.

I had a look at the link to the track, looks relatively low speed so you should come to a rest pretty quick even if you hit the dirt, and it was all pretty flat (no big holes etc...), was a little concerning with no form of barriers between some of the turns and other parts of the circuit ie. if you went off and across the dirt and hit another car.

Our local circuit here has 2 pretty long straights where you can easily pull over 200km/h, then it starts to get a bit scary.

Good luck, enjoy yourself, learn lots!!

To track a vehicle, you WILL need rollover protection. Most schools I have attended will either 1. No accept convertibles. Even if it has rollover protection 2. A least requires whatever minimal roll over protection the car came insatlled with from the factory (i.e. Z3 with roll hoops). At this writing, Tracquest, Perfromance Drivers Association and Summit Point will accept convertibles with rollover protection.

For autocross, rollover protection is not really a requirement. Ive seen many Miatas go bare.

Cones, dont hit any - easier said than done, especially for a novice, but hitting some is always part of the game. Im my autocrossing experience Ive only hit 2 cones head on. The rest were sideswipes along the rocker panels. Only damge I had was a cracked foglight on a '98 M3.

Its great that raceway park built a roadcourse, but stupid that they made it so tight that they did not incporporate any runoff areas, gravel traps or any barriers between some of the sections. Track is great for karting, perhaps some club activities - test days, but for full blown HPDE events I would go look at other shools.

The track not finished yet. They are building the barriers now accually, along with putting lights up and other junk. Thanks guys. I'll look into it more with racewaypark themselves probably.
