You can tell a lot by running a car up in the air on a lift- I would definitely recommend it before you start pulling parts.

i thought that my drive shaft was ok because i couldnt see/feel any play in it.
Friend came over and suggested i just put my hands on the UJ and move it. Turns out that at an angle it's got a large amount of play and is not apparent until its shifted into the angle. My thoughts are that under torque, the UJ twists or the fubframe deflection is enough to create the "gearlash" or humming noise.

All i can do is change out the driveshaft and see what happens.

you talking about this sound? (crank the volume)

i assumed its my driveshaft because i installed a second LSD and have the exact same sound.

sorry if i'm de-railing the thread.

I have good news (for me), I just picked up an M-coupe diff cover for a little more than twice what a new OEM ix bushing costs. I'll put up my diff cover/akg bushing for sale if anyone more manly than me wants it.

Other than some annoying initial fit issues, I've been really happy with the PowerFlex "race" mount from Bimmerworld. NVH was barely affected, if at all.

oddly enough, the vibrations seem to have died down a little bit. either that, or I'm just getting used to it.. Still going to swap covers though, just waiting on hardware/gaskets to do the job. I love the way the rear end feels, I don't love having everything in my 20 year old interior vibrating itself apart. :p
