    Classified Section Minimum Post Count

    Title is self explanatory...

I say 25 minimum posts before you can list something in the classifieds. I'm all about saving more e30s and getting the opportunities that random "non-enthusiasts" bring to the site, but c'mon.

Maybe I'm just saying this because I'm trying to sell my Jeep and the Jeep forums require 25 posts before you can list to classifieds. I will say, all my posts on that site have been pretty informative/helpful. I can see how this will just create bullshit posts, but I wanted to bring the topic up for discussion.

I'm sure its been discussed before, ban me :)

Makes sense. Isn't this a rule on e30tech?

Like you said, it will cause alot of bs post so they can sell their car or parts. I never did understand the logic behind it? You have something to sell to a community, but cant cause you got to have 25 post. So an item may not get put up and the person loses a sale and a buyer loses a buy!

+1 to Jason's comment. Post count in this forum is not an accurate way to measure the users responsibility/trust/r3vness. I might be helpful to force the seller to create a feedback thread prior to posting classifieds?

I think the post count minimum other forums have is utterly asinine.

I just bought my 325ix from the R3v boards due to me posting a wanted ad (first post ever). Super grateful for letting noobs post in classifieds :)

I understand that minimum post counts can cause bullshit posts. On the other hand, however,...

The idea behind the minimum post count, if i understand it correctly, is to almost create an inconvenience to any "scammers" or untrustworthy people because it takes some level of EFFORT to be able to make a listing in the classifieds.

Correct me if I'm wrong? Its simply there to deter some of the lazier scammers/rip-offs. Obviously if someone is determined they can get through (haha Vlad), but most are too lazy and would rather have an easier way out. It'll be clear if they just BS'ed their way through the posts to make a listing by checking their history.

I don't know about you guys, but I like some sort of security with my funds, even if its only a little more than nothing....

I have posted up useless posts just to get my post count up on other forums to sell my items.

It is just as bad as the minimum posts before I can PM someone on forums. So how is one supposed to get in touch with them? Posting up questions in their sale thread?

Gary and Jason both have good points...but at the end of the day guess who wins. I don't think it really matters actually. It may stop some spam, but I've never really seen anything overly spammy for sale on here. No use fixing something that isn't broken.

I just wanted to see the idea debated amongst a few members and get the general consensus.

The one thing i've noticed on here is, that its people way over 25 post that end up ripping someone off. I understand your logic now since you said it about checking their past post and to deter lazier scammers away.

I feel that the the classified section regulates itself quite well. If stuff is overpriced, people say it. If it's underpriced, people snatch it up fast.

You'll always have scammers/spammers. Regardless of post count.

A persons post history is clearly visible right under their user name. If someone isn't comfortable purchasing from another member who only has a post or two, then don't purchase from them. There are many other members who are willing to, and there's no need to take away that opportunity.

Someone who registered yesterday, has 26 posts in OT and is now selling a high dollar item, isn't any more trustworthy then someone who has 1 post selling that same item, IMO.

Also, I believe most of the ripping-off done around here is usually in part condition discrepancies.
