Does anyone know where I can pick up an oil cap for my vert in LA while I wait for the new one to come in from FCP Euro? The old one grew legs on my test drive around the block and I can't seem to find it. New or used is fine. I'm not sure how long the new one will take with all the shipping delays these days.

It's a pretty standard size across other BMW's, so you can go to the junkyard, pay the $3 entry fee, grab a cap, shove it in your pants, and leave. But also, don't steal. Go back to the yard a few weeks later and return the cap. -
Or... just pay the $4 that they would charge you for the cap? That's literally the price listed for the junkyard I visit. I just picked up one for myself since the one I had was at a weird angle when fully tightened.
I know this is an older post, but for akasoldats benefit: You say it grew legs on the test drive, so this car is new to you? I lost an oil cap when I first installed the turbo on my car because I didn't realize I had to change the way the crankcase vents. Oddly enough the oil cap was the thing that disappeared, rather than the dipstick being pushed out. Regardless, this tells me that your car might have an obstruction on the crankcase vent, and you could end up losing the new cap again, if you don't fix the crankcase venting issue. Just my $0.02.Comment
