    car reluctantly for sale

well i recently took my 87 325is,AW, 5 speed with about 187.6k miles, to the m shop in eagle rock for what i thought was going to be just a leak down and pressure test...

unfortunately there were several other things wrong with the car that have forced me to sell it as a fixer upper.

the list of items wrong with the car are FCAB's gone, camshaft seal leaking, engine and tranny mounts shot, radiator cracked, wrong radiator hoses (the work done for the radiator was done with aftermarket hoses worked around improperly unfortunately this was the only e30 i saw so i made the mistake of assuming that was how the piping looked...), front brake pads are low (was going to get a bbk after e46 sold), shocks are getting worn out (probably due to aftermarket springs but i was gonna get coilovers after e46 at anyrate), leak where oil filter is installed (easy fix i was gonna do at next oil change in like 1.5-2k miles), found some bondo work on rear passenger side (did see that honestly when i saw the car)

so all in all a tough lesson to learn. now i wish i could fix the car up as some of the stuff is pretty easy to fix however i don't have the tools or time or space to do such lengthy repairs myself.

right now the car runs rather well considering the work needed i will try to get pics this weekend as i don't have a P&S currently. the car is being offered at 1750.00 OBO. the car is available for viewing, test driving as well but i'd like to avoid any unneccessary wear and tear at this point, in the san gabriel area feel free to pm me contact info or if you want my address etc.

you and kalim both need to read jay  hopefully i can get a P&S asap to get proper pics up.

some +'s for the car are aside from it being a 5 speed IS is that it has a racing dynamics rear bumper new cat installed i have OEM software and injectors but the car came with larger 19lb injectors and racing software (not sure what brand honestly) new valve cover gasket installed and new spark plug wires installed, odometer works as well as all gauges dash is pretty clean i have yet to see any cracks on it. dif is stock 325is LSD, had some recent work done on driveshaft and bearings (have reciepts for proof) new front windshield sunroof works perfectly. despite rear bondo work car is a straight chassis so impact must have been a low speed one. tires need to be replaced soon on 3/4 rims but the rims are BBS RA's and comes with a full bottle cap spare.

Sorry to hear about the car troubles. An '87 325iS is a pretty special car, so think long and hard about bailing on it. The M Shop is a great shop and I'm sure they did a thorough job in diagnosing it, but yeah, I kind see it getting pretty spendy to have them to all the work.

If you don't have the time/resources/ability to get the work done yourself, consider taking your car to a shop that's willing to discount it's rate for bulk/interconnected work. No guarantees, but I'd bet that E30 Motor Werks could get the work done for a lot less than you'd expect. Or try BMW PHD Motorsports in Pasadena. It's a new shop, but the owner has tons of experience and he owns an e30 too. Good luck.

That's for damn sure. His prices are very reasonable and he does great work.

isn't e30motorwerks in arizona? probably have to have the car towed there which would be $$$ in itself...i honestly just need a place to work , lift, tools, etc. i can DIY most of it myself just the engine/tranny mounts and camshaft seals are the biggest reasons for me honestly...

thank you guys for the input

Dood, where did you get Arizona from I was talking about the http://www.e30motorwerks.com/index/ in Bangalor. You'd need to have it flown in on a transport plane so factor that into the cost
