I'm still confused what you mean by laser. Instant-on isn't relevant to detectors because it's LOS. On the open road, every speed trap I've come across left their passive scanners on too...making it stupid easy to avoid trouble. I mean miles of warning.
the escort radar detectors are known to be better at picking up laser than the v1 does.
true, laser still too advanced.
A laser detector won't keep you from getting a ticket. What it will do is alert you that you need to slow down and wait for the officer to give you your ticket...or floor it and get off the freeway and disappear.
Once you are tagged by a laser your speed is registered back at the gun. It's not due to laser being too advanced, it's due to laser traveling at the speed of light.
Radar detectors are different matter, though, and I agree with you that the escort is better in that regard.
Das ist nicht nur nicht richtig, es ist nicht einmal falsch!
Does it work if a cop is behind you? Like if he just entered the freeway and you didn't spot him?
Mine was 360*, so yeah if they're running typical passive scanners. The V1 gives arrow directions as well as strength and number of bogies. The side arrows are pretty much useless though haha. A large chunk of my fwy hits were cops approaching from behind. It's a great feeling when they blast past you.
although if a cop is behind you he'll also be using his eyes to calculate your speed.
if you really want to reduce your tickets learn not to weave in an out of lanes because that's how they spot you speeding from much farther away than they can radar you.

Meh, all my open road hits were well beyond LOS. Realistically though, radars are useless anywhere near the LA area - that's why I sold mine. But in Arizona it was stupid consistent and reliable.
