Turned out to not be the case with me. All new bushings and it's worse than before. Even tried solid washers.

I wonder how many people here know that the main cause of shifter slop is the selector rod joint that attaches to the transmission.

^100% agree, and that little yellow or black sponge is mainly the culprit.

#14 is the rod joint and #20 is this little round sponge that goes in there and makes it snug when you insert the dowel pin. On the T side of #14 where the selector rod goes through is plastic and it gets worn. #2 is important as well, I recommend the delrin carrier bushing. As well as packing silicone on the backside of the #4 instead of buying a new one.

                        Did you replace #4?

I don't know if that was directed at me, but yes I ponied up and changed that joint along with new sponge thing, yellow washers, rear carrier, cup, top bushing, and selector rod.

I asked this question in the suspension section of the forum, but haven't gotten a response. Hoping for better results here. I need to replace the steering guibo on 2 cars. 1 is an airbag car and the other is not. The coupler in the photo is from Ireland Engineering. Anyone here using one of these? Will it work for both cars? How different does the steering feel with this setup as suppose to stock?
