Your car will need to re learn itself. You need to drive it for a while. I had the same problem every time i'd disconnect my battery when i had a vacuum leak. It would stall for 2 days then run great. I'd try disconnecting the maf and testing a factory ecu with no afm. If it still runs like ass then its probably not your maf.

well it drove 'okay' before, and never drove like this on disconnects - dives lean on anything but slight or W/O throttle. it's just frustrating that now none of the MAFs work. i've been thinking about ditching the whole thing and going back to AFM anyway.1989 325is / 2.7, 274 cam, e30 M3 5-lug

I bet your car would run 790383821 times better back on a AFM and legit chip.Comment

okay, so....i picked up a couple spare MAF sensors to see if they'll run better in my car. swapped one, reset DME, ran like garbage. same thing with the other one. gave it a few miles and start cycles and no change. fuck it. put back the original one and it drives like shit too now. wonderful.
To answer your question all M50 Vanos and S50 MAFs are the same.Comment

It's probably a good idea if I'm ever trying to pass smog again normally.1989 325is / 2.7, 274 cam, e30 M3 5-lug

Blah blah blah Mike. :D
Harry, it would technically fail because of the visual difference and the check engine light. I'm willing to bet it could still pass the emissions side of things though but I don't know for sure.Comment
