...you don't have enough money for maintenance. how are you going to come up with a minimum of 4-5k assuming you source all parts and do most of the work yourself just to do a manual 6spd swap?

I never said I was going to get the 6-speed right away if I do buy the auto M3. It would just be an option for later on when I have some extra cash to spend. I'll have enough to do the preventative maintenance after I get whatever car.

Debating it... I'm looking at several cars in the SD area atm.

If I get the auto then I'm going to get it for $3500. It's not worth 4.5k in it's current condition. The clear coat needs to be fixed in some parts and as Travis said, it has a valve tick. I'm guessing the reason for that is because it's a little low on oil. When Ben bought his M3, he was telling me it had a tick and that by adding more oil fixed it since the level was low.

There's only a few parts of the paint that are in bad condition and only 1 or two dents that I saw. The paint issues are mainly some clear coat issues, but nothing more. Fairly easy fix too... just going to use the GoPro Suction Mount method to pop em and then use touch up paint as needed. The bumper can be mended and would not be a hard fix. I had to do the same thing on my ES Valence when I had my vert.

well a 6 speed swap isn't worth it unless you've got an s50b30 or s50b32 or other higher hp motor to go in there.

and that car isn't worth it unless you get it for less 3k. it just isn't. you'll be dumping all kinds of money into it just to make it look half decent plus that car needs tons of maintenance. find something a bit more that's been maintained and looks good and comes with better goodies that stock shit sport seats.

Did you come down and take a look at the car in person? Also the dude has the maintenance records for it.

nope, but from seeing your pictures, his pictures, watching the video you sent me and reading the ad, i wouldn't buy it solely by the way it looks and by the horrendous valve tick it is having. it would just be too much work and money to invest in with the price he is asking. now if the price were to be around 2k, then hell, why not, then you can fix it up. but i just don't think it's worth it when you can get another m3 with vaders, much better paint, and a strong engine.
