i just skimmed through the bentley for a couple of minutes and it dosent seem hard. Although ide have to take my time and read it up for sure. As far as pressing the new seals in i read that they should be pressed in a bit further than the ones the old ones and then siliconed etc etc.

Yep. You usually press them in at a different depth to get a good seal. The seals don't get silicone sealer, but the surface between the oil pan gasket and the front cover does.

actually, on further inspection, my diff makes some sketchy clicking noises too. How much is a rebuild?

LSD or no? You can DIY a rebuild for around $250 if you have time and tools.
I dunno how much it'd be to pay someone else to do it.

What tools do I need to yank a diff?

nothing special. just a set of wrench's and sockets. and a jack for when it loosens up. pretty heavy
