You cant run "just an i head". You NEED the electronics. and when I said something about the head gasket I meat you will need an aftermarket head gasket. The stock head gasket cant handle boost and the stock head bolts arent meant to handle boost either.

and who gave you the 5500 rev limit number? In a perfect world where you didnt have to swap electronics or any sensors onto the eta motor, you would simply have a 4500 rev limited 2.7i. The motor wont rev to 5500 or 6500rpms without the proper electronics. You cant tune for higher revs on the eta ecu. The ebay or aftermarket chips wonts be formatted for your application.

Long story short, you need to research it more Ben.

There is a huge thread on the 2.7i swap. You need an i head, i intake manifold, i electronics, i sensors, i thermostat housing and thermostat and probably a few more things that I cant remember.

Shoot me a text if you want to talk more about it or talk with Stephen, he was debating doing it too.

Also no one talked to me about it. I pretty much desided to this all myslef. I cant afford a m50 or such. really no point in doing a m20b25i swap unless i just sell the car an buy a 325i.

The goal would only be around 200whp for a fun DD. tuning wise would only be a chiped ecu, possibly bigger injectors.

I think it would be a safe DD. I wont start any work till I find a job.
I dont think youll make 200whp on a stock dme but it could work. you should just ad M/S

Possably bigger injectors... Bigger injectors are going to be a must 14lb injectors wont be enough

I wish I was futher down south I want a base number before cams

I think you should plan this out a little better and research some more. You would need to upgrade your ECU as well.

It sounds like someone talked with you breifly about how it COULD work and you ran with it. There are little things that even the biggest gearheads forget about.

no offense to you. Just layin that out there.

What about exhaust? Your car will run like shit with factory Eta exhaust.

for the adaptor manifold , ill make it or my dad. I just need to make the adaptor plates for the headers and i can find or make a t2 flang myself

for now I would have to run the stock ecu maybe with a chip..
to source all teh stuff for 2.7i would take time and loads of more money.

for the downpipe would just be a one 3" pipe , then make a dummy cat and maybe stock piping and muffler from there. Im really not wanting to go crazy boost or anything that would get me puleld over.
Thats why I think half a bar would be fine. would be around 200whp and that good for DD.

I allready want to change the headgasket so I might as well slap on a b25 head for safe 5500 rev's. The turbo I can part up myself. T25 from a nissan I can get from 100 bux , custom charge pipes can be made with a mig welder. Just need to make a turbo manifold.. Shouldn't cost no more than 500 bux. Ive got a place in sfv todo this too
