I'd go for Torrance. Most parts are nice(and "nice") and it's close to work.

What I'll probably end up doing is coming down there this summer and getting a feel for the area I'd prefer the most - do some recon.
I'm 23, I'll be 24 by the time I get all settled in and start work in September though.

I'm not "scared" per say. However, I'm concerned that my car will disappear one night, so I really don't want to be in a rough neighborhood.;)

Bullshit if you ask me but back to Carson, Torrance, Gardena and Lomita even Bev. Hills has it's thugs and so do these cities, if you mind your own business you'll be just fine.

I made a quick map of south LA county - blue are areas I'm looking at living and red are the areas I won't touch with a 10 ft pole. The A is where I will work.
Does this look accurate? I hear if you get 5-6 blocks from the coast in Long Beach, that you'll hear gunshots often?
So after thinking about it more, I'm leaning towards Torrance, San Pedro, coastal Long Beach, Westminster, Redondo Beach, and Seal Beach. A quick search found some decent places for 1000-1200 with one with a 2-car garage. However, it was really close to the 405/110 intersection - is that getting too close to Compton?
Damm! You pretty much just put down the area of the members that live in the red zone. Congrats.

My dad was sationed at seal beach(not sure if the on map one is the same?) and had friends living in compton. He said 1 was stabbed and other something or else happened...
this was all relative 15 years ago, Ive always been told when down there, not to venture close to it...I remember seeing ( when i was 3 or 4 maybe ) people walking with guns in their pants lol :)
But on a positive note, My friend greg has family in Carson and he said its pretty chill there

It's California, fuck it. If you can't talk shit about the place, you are too soft to live there. Also Sean, I've found here in Idaho I have to wave at everybody that passes by, it's like a rule. Out in California, everyone just flips you off.
