i agree with brett. if im throwing down a huge investment, i want the real deal. something thats going to last. as for the options above nigel, you should let the customer decide perhaps. that way if hes struggling a couple bucks, he could vouch for a cheaper alternative, but roughly the same product. im going to start pocketing some extra money on the side each paycheck. i want to hear that flutter everyday. -
m20. They are possibly moving to other motors soon as well for a better investment from what I understand.Leave a comment:

Tell me about it. I'll be a senior for two more years. For a total of 3. Shoulda finished my math way sooner. I'd definitely love to pick your brain and your laptop for a base tune. LolLeave a comment:

Garrett, Tial Wastegate (synchronic anyone?), a BOV with a big hole on both sides ;)
AEM vs lc-1...I have an AEM but I use LC-1s in the kits/customers cars. I don't like the lack of calibration on the AEM units, but it has been headache free. I can't say the same about the LC-1...It's just, easier to integrate as a "plug and play" setup. Having a gauge on the side is like trying to eat spaghetti with one chopstick while fumbling with donkey balls.
Experience man. I don't bite, let me know if I can help you. I would love to have e30 turbo kits produced and sold the way they were meant to be. I have to focus on school. Silly degree keeps running, I'm gettin old. There are freshman in my classes. Help.Last edited by blueapplesoda; 11-03-2010, 11:17 PM.Leave a comment:

I'll need more time to make educated votes but in the end they won't be based off experience, only he said she said internet bs. I'm not going to drop $3k on parts someone in an RX-7 forum said were great or bs, i would like to know they actually hold up to the beating I am going to give it. So i vote no on any clones, i want the real thing.
You wouldn't know if my plumbing isn't already bronze though lolLeave a comment:

So let's get some voting done
Garrett or ITS turbo (roughly the same price)
Tial or turbosmart wastegates (turbosmarts is about 50 less)
Which BOV? There are dozens to choose from. I might let that be a customer by customer option. You send us the flange and we'll weld it on.
Are we all going to want new 42lb injectors for future upgrade potential or stick to some rebuilt 24lb units since it is going to technically be an 8lb kit. Even though it will probably be dyno tuned at 18lbs. Catch can or just atmosphere dump
Lc-1 or aem wideband.
Or the tata kit for the initial run and we'll make a signature kit just for Brett. I'll even paint the plumbing bronzit. LolLeave a comment:

You gotta pay to play. This will not be some bullshit kit. But as Derek said, e30s are not the best market to attack from a business stand point.
I will say that with a decent base tune, Nigel's car pulls harder then my s52 ever did! It also has a good deal of potential left with a better tune. 8)Leave a comment:

Maybe I'll do a limited production signature kit complete with ceramic coated manifold and such. Then I'll do tata kits to go for volume and pay some bills. Its not like I'm making any money off the parts. Maybe a few bucks on the plumbing and a couple intake boots sold. But everything else is pretty much a wash. Its just a platform to offer the parts we make.Leave a comment:

Based off of my 5 lug investment you know i'm no slouch when it comes to spending the right money on the right parts. it just needs to be worth the investment and my hard earned chips and I'm will to roll with this. i want something unique, in a way, thats going to last.Leave a comment:

I know i'm barking up the wrong tree. If i made a $4000 kit for a lotus i could not keep it on the shelf. Maybe i'll just make TATA kits. That seems to be what the majority of e30ers want. The cheapest possible way to go wooooshh. LolLeave a comment:

Good luck with the e30 community. I've been at it with all sorts of brand names and things like that, but seems nobody is interested.
You should reinvest into e36s. The market is much larger.
Good Luck from a fellow turbo enthusiast.Leave a comment:
