    If I wanted a 24V swap done..

Weighing my options with things, and while I would love to do SE30, part of me is always leaning towards an awesome 24V track rig that I can drive around town too. Few things have stepped in front of my SE30 dreams (for now) so I may put that on hold to get a decent track car ready to go; and if I could get a 24V motor going for a decent price, I would certainly do that!

I'm located in Woodland Hills, about 15 miles north of LA.

Anyone have recommendations for a shop that could/would do an entire 24V swap?

I can't spend 10k on a swap, but I'm looking for a reliable install/setup and a shop that would be communicative with me about it, and not to mention honest. I know prices will vary, and additional parts may need to be ordered, but I can't have a "yeah we can do this for about 3500" and then 4 weeks later I get a call "btw we needed to spend another 2k".

Also, I'm all for me finding/buying the parts and shipping it to them(with their guidance on what I need), or if they have everything ready to go that would be fantastic as well.

So, if anyone has good references or recommendations for a shop that does this work, that would be great.

I know TNG does great work, but I'm not sure if they are still up and running?

    Thanks

    Dan B

dude you are gonna get raped in labor fees!
you can get the motor and everything for under a grand installed, if you do work yourself.
i know shops charge 80-120/hr. hypothetical= so say they take 10 hours, that is 800-1200$ just in labor....you'd be paying more for the labor than the actually motor swap!!!

find some friends that can help you do the swap.

castros is probably the shop closest to you that does that type of work hes in van nuys. i would give castros a call and get a quote.

im willing to help if you decide to pull it on your own, like to learn shit, especially since i plan on doing this in the future as well. what i would do if i was worried about spending too much money for a swap, is to research the parts you will need to buy and buy them. then do the swap yourself and take it to castros if you have issues.

        but call castros

Plus when they tell you they are ready for you to drop off the car they can complete it in about a week. Assuming no pre-existing issues with the swap parts (eg harness shorts, bad sensors, fubar'd vanos, etc.)

Seriously can't recommend them enough, just go to the castro's. They're probably some of the best when it comes to swapping in. Chris knows it like the back of his hand. If you're not sure call him or go in and see him first and talk to him.

Thanks for the recommendations guys- I'll definitely give castros a call.

I'd love to try and tackle the swap myself, but the problem is that I don't have the space or the real time to put into doing the swap. I definitely have the friends who would be more than willing to help, and who have done it before (wh33lhop)- but like I said: I just don't have the working space or the time to let it sit.

I'll for sure check out Castros. Thanks.

It doesn't need to be SHOW CAR quality, but I would definitely like it to be clean and tidy.

Give Chris Castro a call. We've done a bunch of swaps and are very fair on pricing. Also the shop is in North Hollywood, so it isn't too far from you.

Armen at TNG did a very clean S52 swap into my Cabrio a couple years ago. The reason that it costs a lot in labor is because it's a lot of work, and guys that have done swaps before know how to avoid a lot of screw-ups that a first timer will probably commit. Having someone experienced do the swap is a good use of money if you can afford it.
