Just for the record am I arguing the law anywhere?

I'm asking if there's any way around it since my Euro plate reads the same as my CA plate.

    Not a big deal.

There's no way around it, the law says you have to have a California plate, not a just any plate. Some tickets are bullshit tickets but this one is pretty cut and dry, and this is coming from someone who's gotten 10 no plate tickets in the last two years, one of which I forgot about and caused my license to get suspended and my car impounded.
I got another front plate ticket a couple of weeks ago, I'm just going to keep the front plate on.

I find you get hassled less for having no plate than putting on a euro plate. I see random housewives driving around all the time in their suburbans and minivans with no front plate any no one notices. Now that I have euro bumpers I don't really have an easy way to mount my front plate anymore anyway.

What's funny is that my gf's mom bought herself an Integra GS-R in 1995, then my gf inherited in 2004. Fast forward to 2010 and I drive thing for the second time and I get pulled over for no front plate, which is the first time in 15 years that anyone got popped for that in that car. I guess it doesn't help that I was a brown male with a shaved head and goatee driving in East Oakland past midnight, but I digress.

I got out of one with a lawyer. Other reasons were necessary. Main reason being that I was cited and pulled over for "no front plate" when in actuality, I was in the same boat. Front plate matched the rear, was just in euro form.

I got it dismissed on the mere record of there being no front plate on it, but there was.

Seeing as how you werent driving it, I would check two things.

1st I would look into the requirements for parked vehicles on public roads. it may not list as any vehicle, but moreso a car "being used" or "operated."

2nd I would take a picture with the other front plate on it parked in the same spot, and just send it in via a letter stating the report was false.

Check tomorrow morning, but i believe as stated above, the law is a bit different for vehickes parked / being operated. Either way best of luck Matt.

Dosnt matter if your euro plate have the same letters or numbers, its not a california issued plate. Theres no way to fight it. GL tho!

I just got one in my firebird, unless LA is different, put the plate on, have a cop sign it and send it in, was $10 in Encinitas. However, when I went to the station to have a cop sign it, they didn't even look at they car, they just signed that I did it.

That's why I said that these are bullshit tickets, they don't really give a rats ass. It's just about wasting people's time and exponging(spell check) money from them.

Cool, thanks guys. I'll have to see if I can get it signed off in person as opposed to mailing in full payment. It doesn't seem to mention anything about that but I will figure it out.

Again it's not like $40 is the end of the world to me, it's just the principle.

then lobby to get the laws changed, dont just whine about them on an online (car) forum.

CA is in debt and counties like money. Raise the prices on unnecessary front plate tickets and decrease debt - DUH!

This is a capitalist society; expect a "bulshit" law such as this.
