i think these big meets are getting carried away. Sponsorship and such... We all go to see other cars and talk. Not to buy and win stuff. In a way that kills the feel like it used tobe.

Anyways im looking forward to seeing some old faces and tale cars.

Seriously though, a lot of people make very long drives to make these, it's always nice to sweeten the pot with giveaways and trophies and shit. It's fun and it gets people excited. It helps the atmosphere as well, and makes people more social. When somebody wins something everybody wants to see it, and then they end up talking about plans for it and shit like that. Don't be such a hipster. ;)

No one puts a gun to anyone's tempo, just to come out. If you feel like it's too much fun for you, by all means stay home enjoying yourself.
This event will 1 day be the E30FEST of the west coast, so maybe then it'll be simple enough for you to attend to and pay $20 for parking to look at other cars (hint, hint).

Sponsorship is given to sweeten the pot yes, only to give the community a little bit back for doing business with those companies, and to be able to keep those business booming and alive, they need clientele.
In other words if the community does not support them, those business will die.
