edwin, i said id stay out, but honestly cant, the times that have been had at dockweiler are beyond sponsors, icecream and a kids museum, or and old guy that wants me to buy his book.

His comment was not out of place. Omar saw that some of the originators of the 1st successful Dockweiler event were displeased with the change in location, including myself, so he felt he should speak his point as well.

I initially suggested the Dockweiler location, as it was a huge parking area, with multiple lots, bon fire pits, the beach, and a chill atmosphere. We all got together and started an awesome event that's really taken off. Edwin and others have taken over the event, and the last one was really awesome.

That being said, our point about location and name of the event is valid. I don't feel that Edwin, and whoever else helped, have the right to change the location of the event without making a poll about it so everyone can vote. Plenty of notice or not, this event should not sibstitute or supercede the ACTUAL Dockweiler event, which has really become a California phenomenon.

That's what's great about Dockweiler. It's not trying to be the next Bimmerfest. It was all about the community, not corporate sponsorship. I don't have a problem with that in general, but there's a time and a place for it, and it isn't at Dockweiler. Archiesfest is a completely different monster, and there's nothing wrong with it. But it isn't Dockweiler. At the first Dockweiler you know what we had? A small Guten Parts raffle. Other than that it was hang out, drink some beers, and eat food that people were sharing.

..Just make them two separate events and see what sponsors want to contribute to each. As a lot of other members feel, I think Archie's event is a great idea and it'll be a real privilege to make it, but I still want my Dockweiler :].

Also, I would be down for some Sonic the Hedgehog pops.

Thank you Chris, and yes simply that, i got to go to two, and saw it grow, i knew from talking to other members that like myself there were others that were in disagreement with what was going on.

Nothing at all personal against ANYONE, nobody feels that way, we just want dockweiler as we know it, i dont think anyone would be opposed to archie to come out to the beach and be a part of a great event.

TLDR for the last couple pages of drama.

Nevertheless here are my 2cents. I understand you guys just wanted the event to be chill and laid back, that's totally fine and excepted. Personally I don't see why this bickering is going on. If you want a Beach atmosphere event, do it during the non-rainy months. Great example is the BBQ we had over the summer at Mission Bay in San Diego. I would attend both events regardless as long as I could get work off. On a side note, I don't mind the business sponsorships. All that means is there is usually a raffle and a bunch of free stuff. I mean common, who doesn't like free stuff? That being said, if this event is still going on, count me in.

Why is everyone getting their panties in a wad over a meet that has happened only twice? It's a social gathering about the people, not the location.

Anyhow, that's my .02. I'll be there with ice cream stuffed in my face.
