M10 Tranny?

Anyone got an M10 tranny they can sell? I don't know what happened to mine, but it wouldn't go in reverse and under the car I found this... (Pic is attached). I don't know if it's an easy fix or what, but I figure at this point it may be easier to get a new tranny. Not that anything was wrong with the old one, but I don't know if this one is even worth fixing.

It is hard to tell with just one picture.
But to me that piece does not look like it came off the trans. I am fairly certain that something in your shift linkage is most likely broken.
That little bit of metal looks almost exactly like a dowel off the selector rod.
I would examine the linkage before spending money on a trans that might not be the problem.

There is a real nice 84 318i with 99k on the odo in one of the junk yards, in so cal.
The interior was as clean and spotless as it can get. If you are willing to drive 400 miles and pull and drive back.
