How the hell... How long has she known this guy? He has to have some kind of traceable evidence. Phone number, cell, something. That is really shady and I wouldn't think something of that nature would happen. Stolen from a complete stranger, understandable. But from an acquaintance / friend?

She was renting it. She's had great luck for the last year. All her cars are now getting satellite tracking devices.

LOL I remember seeing that on TV, about people renting their cars and storage space out. Good idea, but you still gotta cover your ass and get all of their info just incase.

She did. Crack heads have no real ties (permanent residence, job, phone, etc...) and can go under the radar easily. She usually has them pay cash up front but this guy seemed honest enough to trust. Wife and 2 daughters. Hate it when con artist exploit kids to their benefit. I remember giving a guy and his daughter $5 so he could get her something to eat in front of ralphs. I see him 2 minutes later walking to the register with a 40 and some animal crackers.

But lessons learned. I never give out money unless its to kids selling stuff with the blue plastic bins. I used to do that when i was 12. Talk about shit work. But $15-30 a day was balling back then.

Hope you guys find the car. I never give out money too, Sometimes I get people outside the drive thru or grocery store asking for money, I always ask them what they want to eat. I'll buy them something but I'm not giving them money.

What the deal with those kids selling stuff in parking lots? I always see them outside Target or the grocery store but at the end of the day I'll see a huge cargovan come by and pick them all up.

Did you end up filing a police report?

You get picked up and someone drops you off for 4 hours in different parts of LA county. Back then out of the $5 sale, you got $1 of every sale,$1 went to the driver, $1 went to the company and the item cost $2. They check your pockets at the end of the day sometimes to make sure that you did not collect donations. Usually you wear tightie whities under your boxers to stash your extra loot.

Technically you can't report a vehicle stolen if you handed someone the keys. Basically you have to hire a repo company and file with the credit bureau for an outstanding rental bill plus the price of the car. Worst case scenario all you get is a tax right off.

You can't file complete a theft insurance claim with out a police report. You can't file a police report if you handed someone the keys. If you lied and said you came out at it was gone and the person shows the cop a rental agreement then you get in trouble for filing a false police report.

ouch. Have someone file a report of a hit and run against the car. Then if police sees it they get pulled over

Wouldn't that be just as illegal as a false stolen report?
The first car I ever rode in was an e30
