by the way, anyone know where the best place to rent a long board and wet suit would be? or does anyone have a long board and/or wet suit that i could borrow for a few days?

I'm not a great surfer by any means, but got comfortable surfing 3-5 foot waves in Costa Rica on a couple of different Robert August boards. So you won't have to worry about your board getting messed up, but if something happened I would pay to get it fixed.

Mo moved back to WA this summer. The details of this can be gone over on Friday, I'm not interested in discussing it on r3v. he did however leave a longboard at my apt which is now MINE and I have a wet suit that would fit a 5'7"-5'10"ish guy.

Not sure what places would be open during the winter to rent you a board and wetsuit...Jeffers in Hermosa Beach comes to mind, not sure about Manhattan...Oh, yeah, there was a place on the east side of the street, across from a liquor store/mini-mart....Used to be called "Players Surf Shop", it's something else now, but I think they still rent boards. This new place is further north on Highland, closer to El Porto (North Manhattan Beach), probably around 40th Street?

If you want to visit Robert's original shop, it's down in Huntington Beach. He's a legendary board rider/shaper.

I haven't been by his shop in years, but it's a great piece of So Cal surf history. Robert was made famous by the movie, "The Endless Summer", when he was just a kid. In "Endless Summer II", they mention that Robert owns property down in Costa Rica and surfs there as much as possible. With 80-90 degree water and righteous wave breaks, who can blame him?

I think Robert August boards are in demand, even snapped (can he fix it?!)?
