It was the bolt that connects the caliper bracket to the knuckle, not a slide bolt. i replaced it and it doesn't seem like any threads are stripped so hopefully that's that.

Is this different from a police station? thats what i did to begin with and they said it's be $25 on top of the $25 fee and I had like a month to get it signed off at that point so I didn't do it. But now I have 3 days left and I still don't wanna pay a extra $25.
The first car I ever rode in was an e30

You can drive to a police station, they'll do it there too.
When I was LBV's age no one told me that any station could get 'er done,
so I drove all the way from my home in Alameda to San Francisco SoMA police station and had a police officer come out sign it.
(It was for a ticket I got from the SF Metro transit dept).

I just ziptied the plate to my tow hook and she was cool with that... lol

Also: it was free..... except for the bay bridge toll i had to pay.

Yup! Go to CHP office! The closest for sign offs is here http://www.chp.ca.gov/depts_divs_off...ose/index.html

Its off of 880 and Zanker (the canker) Road . Be prepared to show Drivers License! They want a drivers license for anything and everything!

Never drive your vehicle with a suspended drivers license and park down the street and walk up to get any violations or other shit taken care of and think that you can just tell them that a buddy dropped you off and you did not drive there with the Suspended License.

They have a guy thats outside and pretends to be washing a CHP cruiser or something like that. Then when you leave he watches you closely and the moment you get into a vehicle and begin to drive a chase will ensue. Cough, cough , ehem , er , at least thats what I have heard. :) LOL!

I used to be a bit of a scofflaw so I learned the hard way!

Also, you could have texted me and I could have brought some tools so you could do things properly! So between Rob, Me , and Eric we have the official NorCal BMW e30 roadside assistance crew in full effect! LOL!

I should make a logo and have shirts printed ! OK now I am just getting a little giddy...

I got it signed off but I'm down to wash/wax/detail (depending on what you want done) your truck since I just found out that I'm not working this week. I just drove around los gatos following some cops until one pulled into peets coffee. One of them I was about to stop next to him at a red light so I could get his attention but he fucking gunned it through lol.

I've gone to two police stations to try to do this. They have these little intercom things on the outside where you press a button and talk to someone. The first one told me to go to another. The second one told me it'd be $25 after buzzing me in and looking at the ticket. Is a CHP office different from a local Los Gatos/Monte Sereno police station?

Bruce, I was reading your story and by the second sentence I was just like "Shit...this is way to specific to be hypothetical"

Ahhh, ya got me there! :)

First hand experience! If you mean are they going to charge you at the CHP like they would at the local PD. That I do not know. Give em a call. I think their call center is open like 24/7 cause its got to be.

They don't and most likely can't

They do charge a processing fee after you get it signed off though
