So I haven't driven my car much this last week since the bridge was closed (I work in the City). Tonight, I decide I wanna go for a little cruise. The last time I parked the car I did my usual thing where I turn the wheel away from the curb since I parked facing up the incline of my street.
Get in the car tonight, pull out to leave and the steering wheel does some funny twirly shit and going everywhere but straight when I straighten it. I start thinking, "Oh god the lca bushing fell out", or, "shitshitshit the rack broke off the subframe".
Park the car around the corner where it won't be in the way, take a look under annnnnnnd:
There's my night...sigpic

A tie-rod seriously only takes 10 minutes if that. Took hardly anytime to swap my damaged Z3 rod with a new onesigpic

Dang.. That really sucks.
Not all hope is lost though; my new Z3 rack was eff'd in an accident, but when I pulled the boot off it was in good condition and the pinion spun freely (indicative of a healthy rack) despite the intense damage to the tie-rod (Z3 rods are beefier too, so you know this thing took some damage)
A new rod would at least make it drivable again. I'd go for it.. But then again I actually have a place to work on my car

I've got NIB e30 tie rods in my hoard as well and was up in Berkeley last night, would have dropped them off if I'd seen this. Let me know if you need them.
edit: if you work in the city we can work out a lunchtime transferLast edited by kronus; 09-02-2013, 09:40 AM.
