            it's revalved billies and GC coilovers on the eta

            the GCs are 1000x better than the XYZs.
            the shocks that come with the XYZs are utter trash. once i pay for the car it's getting better stuff. or back to stock

                        I could never go softer than what I am at. 550/700

                        While on the subject, I have had tons of people ask why I opted for softer in the front as that is where the motor is, so they think the stiffer should be in the front. I have never been able to tell them the real reason minus "everyone does it" lol

                          you know they are actually the same rate at the hub.
                          the front is 1to1 ratio
                          the rear is a fulcrum. since the spring is farther in than the end where the hub is, you need a stiffer rate.
                          heres how it works.
                          measure the distance from the center of the spring to the trailing arm bolts
                          and then measure the distance to the center of the wheel hub,
                          (front spring rate)*(distance to hub)/(distance to spring perch) = needed spring rate.

                              So youre saying because the rear spring is not directly in line with the hub it needs a stiffer rate to compensate for the distance?

                              This sort of has a Physics Torque Theory applied to it? yeah?

                                the e30 trailing-arm suspension design requires it. if the spring were around the shock like it is on most cars, a lower rate for the rear would be appropriate, but as it's a bit inboard, the spring has to be stiffer to get the same effective rate. think in terms of leverage and you'll get it.
