Only if there is excessive burn in the flywheel surface. Surface burn looks warped and blue in the sun; that's why you need to resurface it. If there is no surface burn and it is flat, you can get away with 800 grit sandpaper.

EDIT:
Most people DO opt to resurface because most want to lighten the flywheel as well as a "while-I'm-in-there" thing, which you WILL have to resurface because the surfaces will be uneven from the lightening
IMO; the stock "i" flywheel is light enough as it is. You will see marginal gains going from 18lbs to the r3v-consensus'd 14lbs. The extra clutch noise an road harshness isn't worth itLast edited by JinormusJ; 11-14-2013, 07:33 PM.
