When you almost get stuck again. Ramp on the gas so that one tire is spinning really fast. Then have someone push the rear of the car down real hard and you will get an idea of the forces at play when bringing a fast rotating object to almost a complete stop and the resulting forces that welded diff's help prevent.

The principle is similar, but nobody's advocating a welded diff here. Just a clutch type.

JNasti, I went once. never again. the guys that meet at 8am in morgan hill. they drive like 100mph down 101. wasnt fun for me since i drive speed limit+5. Bimmerfest is self was boring, no organization, wife got bored after 2 hours and we were ready to ditch after 3h.

I agree that caravans suck!

Bimmerfest can be plenty of fun though. It's all about your approach. And drinking like 20 beers helps too...

Cab: This is what I have heard as well but hey you never know until you try. I just want to meet some friends I've made via the internet and see the gathering itself. I do not want to go 100mph and race down there I typically go 80mph so on I-5 that will be 85 or so.

You'll always get those people who go 100+ and drive like idiots. However, there are some people who drive normal (myself). I'll be at the m8trix in SJ at 8. See you there bud
