A much better idea is to safety wire them. I used to have to do that for for track days on my superbike.
Take the bolts(4 of em right) to a local machine shop and have them drill a hole through the bolt head on the horizontal.
Then torque those bishes down to factory spec. Then insert safety wire through the hole on one bolt and then twist the wires upon themselves. Run that same set of wire ends to the other bolt on the caliper and do the same thing.
Wind the wires upon themselves in a spiral pattern and snip off the residual wire.
Do this for the remaining three calipers.
4 times with caliper bolt(s),backing out is way more than a coincidence.
If you back one out that has been safety wired then your shit if fuckin haunted by the Reaper.

given that basically every single e30 except vivek's doesn't have a caliper-bolt-backing-out problem, slapping a safety wire bandaid on a improperly torqued bolt is not a "much better idea".
I like and use safety wire, but I use it in addition to correctly torqued hardware, not instead of it.

Agreed! My post clearly states " Torque those bishes down to factory specification" first
4 times backing out of a bolt indicates the potential of another issue which is causation.
Instead of hearing about a 5th instance which was catastrophical the safety wire is added backup.
Although even an improperly torqued bolt that is safety wired is immeasurably better than one or more backing all the way out.
