Does this mean I'll essentially run into a snag when doing my 5-speed swap this weekend..? I thought the pedal boxes were only held on by 6-8 bolts and aren't connected to the steering rack..?

when i bought the car it had a bent frame. its been in the shop 5.5 days getting the front end straightened.
both strut towers were pushed back and left and the right frame rail was 1.25" left.

i drove over and saw her today. supposedly i get her back tomorrow. we'll see
